Experience Japan!

VISION

Japan in the palm of your hand

The Center for Japanese Studies was founded at the Department of Historical Sciences of the Faculty of Arts of UWB in 2018. In addition to professional publications, it is dedicated to popularizing science and developing public awareness of Japanese realities.

ACTIVITIES

We aim to promote the study of Japanese history and culture and present it to the public.

Teaching Japanese history in Pilsen

We are dedicated to teaching Japanese history. We are interested in politics, culture, and society. We follow Japanese history from the beginning to the present. From the time of the samurai, through the Meiji reforms to Nagasaki and Hiroshima. From kanji to anime.

Publishing activity

We are interested in Japan from all sides, and so are our readers and students. Our publications will draw you into the events and realities of Japan, old and new. Domestic conflicts, Mongol invasions, the opening of Japan, rangaku, or relations with Korea; you can read about all this in our professional books.

Foreign cooperation

You do not just have to read about Japan, you can also experience it. We are proud partners of Doshisha University in Kyoto. In the shadow sakura here, you can deepen your knowledge and learn more about the secrets of the Land of the Rising Sun during your study stay.

THE THIRD ROLE

We also operate outside the university!

Interest in Japanese culture and history is not just a university matter. We hold lectures for the public and are also active on social networks. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.

MEMBERS

Meet our team!

Japan is fun, we agree on that. Some of our members are even from Japan, and others have already been there and will definitely return.
